The Organization:
The Center for Leadership and Involvement (CfLI) is a comprehensive student involvement and leadership center located in the Red Gym. As a department within the Division of Student Life at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, we help to cultivate and engage students through practical leadership skill development and involvement experiences. CfLI promotes involvement through student organizations, student employment, research and internship opportunities, volunteering and service learning, study abroad opportunities and intramurals and recreational sports.

The Position:
The Summer Intern will work under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Involvement. Primary responsibilities will include working at the SOAR Resource Fair to answer any questions that students and their parents have, presenting during the SOAR Info Session for parents, engaging in marketing the Center's opportunities, as well as the opportunity to work on a tailored project.

Qualifications desired

  • Organized and responsible 
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft word and excel
  • Creative and innovative
  • Comprehensive oral and written skills
  • Excellent work ethic and shows willingness to learn
  • Graphic design experience (i.e. InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) is desired

Compensation: Unpaid; potential for college credit

Internship of the Week: Resource Development Intern at the United Way of Dane County

The Organization:
United Way of Dane County is creating measurable results for health and human service issues in Dane County. We are ending family homelessness, ensuring academic achievement among youth, helping seniors remain independent in homes of their choosing, and so much more. 

The Position:
The organization seeks a motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter with an interest in non-profit fundraising who can fill an integral role in our Resource Development department. Located at 2059 Atwood Avenue on the near east side of Madison and on the bus line, their location is accessible even for those students who do not have access to a vehicle.

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Conduct research on current and potential donors by reviewing local and national news and business publications. 
  • Contact local businesses to get a sense of their charitable plans.
  • Provide support for volunteer training sessions and campaign events as needed, including materials assembly.
  • Update donor information in the organizational database.
  • Develop content for electronic, departmental and donor communications.
  • Assist in the production of large-scale mailing projects.
  • Safeguard the confidentiality of donor information at all times.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
