Internship of the Week: Rockefeller Archive Center

Interested in history, international relations, public policy or art history?
Looking for a full-time, stipend internship for the summer?

Consider the Rockefeller Archive Center Internship in NY

The Organization:

For more than thirty-five years the Rockefeller Archive Center (RAC) has been dedicated to the collection, stewardship, and study of primary materials - documents, photographs, and audio-visual media - that reflect the history of the Rockefeller Family and the impact of their philanthropy. The archival holdings provide unique insights into worldwide developments in such fields as medicine, public health, science, the arts, international affairs, social welfare, education, and the social sciences.

The core of the RAC collections documents the programs and activities of various Rockefeller-related philanthropies including the Rockefeller University, the Rockefeller Foundation, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, the Population Council, and the Social Science Research Council. The Archive Center is also the repository for the records of other foundations and nonprofit organizations, including the Commonwealth Fund, the Russell Sage Foundation, the Near East Foundation, and the Ford Foundation, among dozens of others. Each year, over 300 scholars from around the world visit the RAC to conduct research in its archival collections.

The Position:
The Summer Program will provide participants the opportunity to work with archivists and to learn about archival practices and potential careers in that profession. The Program will include lectures and seminars, individual and collaborative projects, all designed to expose students to the full range of RAC activities. Field trips to other archival repositories and regional historical institutions are also planned.
